Here is our pick for some of the best places to eat in The Peak District National Park when staying at Jack’s Cottage, Curbar. We love a coffee and a cake after a good walk or even a good pub stop to have a pint of IPA and grab some good quality food. We like honest places that serve great food at a good price. This is a list of what is close to Jack’s Cottage, Curbar but also some of the best picks a little further away. We have also included information for takeaways in the area.

Coffee Shops and Cake

Jolly’s Coffee and Cake Van

Located at the Curbar gap carpark. Open 10-4 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The best cake and walkable in 30 minutes.

The Eating House (Closest, just down the hill!)

This is a great option for a quick breakfast and definitely the closest, just 5 m ins walk down the hill. The food is good and it has some nice outdoor seating.

Eyam Tea Rooms

Located in Eyam village centre. Great cake and coffee. 10 minutes in the car or walkable in about 1 hour.

 

Chastworth Farm Shop

Located in Pillsley. Great breakfast.

10 minute drive.

 

Chatsworth Country House

10 minute drive. You do need to pay for parking or park at Baslow and walk in the through the kissing gate.  

 

Hassop Station Coffee Shop

5 minute drive away. Great for a coffee or lunch. Great place to start a walk or bike ride from because it sits on the Monsal Trail.

 

Thornbridge Hall Coffee Shop

Great for a coffee and a cake. Also located on the Monsal Trail or can be driven to in 10 minutes.

Take Aways

Great curry and they deliver but can be long waiting times so order early.

Pubs and Restaurants

The Derwent Water Arms

Located in Calver. Walkable in 15 minutes and amazing food and beer. Our favourite pub locally.

 

The Bridge Pub (the local pub, the closest to the cottage)

Located at the bottom of the hill. Walkable in 5 minutes. Family pub and good for a drink. Great pub garden.

 

Charlie’s

Located in Baslow. Walkable and good for lunch.

 

The Grouse

Located up the Froggatt edge road towards Sheffield by car. If you are walking on the edge it’s the place to go. Walkable in 1/1.30 about hour. Really honest pub grub.

 

The Devonshire

Located in Baslow. Very good food. 5 minute drive or 45 minute walk.

 

Fishers

Located in Baslow. A very posh spot if you really want to treat yourself. You need to prebook.

 

The Bull

Located in Follow. Amazing food, only open weekends. 20 minutes’ drive.

The Barrel At Bretton

Located in Bretton. 20 minute drive. Great for lunch or dinner. 

The Checkers

Located in under the edge and walkable along the pipe track or part of an edge loop if you are hungry during a walk.
